gripped Jasper’s elbow and forced him to sit on the nearby rock.
    Jasper shook his head then winced. Nope, shouldn’t have done
that. “I know you didn’t mean to. I just didn’t move fast enough.”
    Logan came down to eye level, pushing Kade out of the way.
Considering neither Kade nor Logan was a doctor, it didn’t really matter which
one looked at him, but whatever. Jasper just needed a nap.
    “You’re really sucking at this fighting stuff, Beta,” Logan
grunted. “I thought you were the mighty Jamenson and could fight like no
other.”
    Jasper flipped the man off then leaned against the tree
trunk that stood behind the large rock he sat on. He still wasn’t quite sure
how he felt about the other wolf. The man was a good fighter and had proven
over and over again that his loyalties ran to the Redwoods. He also took care
of his sister, Lexi, and nephew, Parker, better than anyone had before, though
now that North was mated to Lexi, Logan was backing off a bit to let the new family
gain their balance.
    Jasper didn’t have a problem with any of that.
    The problem was that Logan’s wolf happened to be sniffing
around Jasper’s little sister.
    What made it worse was that Cailin was sniffing around him,
too.
    Cailin might be in her twenties, but she would forever be
Jasper’s baby sister.
    His wolf nudged along his skin, wanting to beat the other
wolf to a pulp for even daring to look at Cailin, his perfect, precious baby
sister. The man, though, had a fucking headache because he’d been too tired and
too slow to duck Kade’s punch during training.
    He’d just have to hurt Logan later.
    Jasper rubbed along his jaw, the ache already going away.
Kade hadn’t hit too hard since they were only training, but the punch
shouldn’t have landed at all.
    “You need to go home and get some sleep,” Kade said as he
rolled his shoulders. “No. First, you need to go make love to your wife, get
some food in your system, and then, sleep for a week. You’re too fucking tired
these days to do anything.”
    Jasper growled, not liking the fact that his brother was
right. “You’re just as tired as I am.”
    Kade shook his head and sat next to him on the rock. Logan
paced back and forth in front of them. The other man had a lot more energy than
they did, but then again, Logan’s wolf was different—not that Jasper knew
exactly how yet. That was something else on his list to find out about the
other man.
    “All of us are tired because of this damn war, but we’re not
as exhausted as you,” Kade said softly. “You need to give yourself a break.”
    “How? How the hell am I supposed to do that, huh? If I don’t
continue to do what I’m doing, then I’m letting down the Pack. I won’t have
them in need because I can’t handle my duties. The moon goddess gave me the
power to do this, and damn it, I’m going to fucking do it.”
    “And kill yourself in the process?” Logan asked.
    “I’m fine,” he lied.
    “You’re lying,” Kade said. “But if you’re gonna lie to
yourself as well as us, then there isn’t anything I can do. I will be by your side
if you need me though.”
    “I’m fine. Really.”
    “Are you?” Logan asked.
    He closed his eyes and ran a hand over his face. “No, no,
I’m not fucking okay. I’m pulled in too many directions, and I can’t even train
with Kade and you without getting my ass kicked. What if I can’t protect my
family?”
    That was his greatest fear. If he was too exhausted to complete
his daily tasks, how was he going to protect Willow and Brie if something
happened?
    His wolf whined, and Jasper knew his wolf had the same
feeling sliding through him as well.
    “Jasper…” Kade sighed and shook his head.
    It seemed not even the Heir knew what to say.
