heard people moving around in the corridor outside, they'd realised others were going to bed.
From then on, they'd done their absolute damnedest to keep quiet, using their fingers, fists and pillows to stifle their moans and groans of pleasure. Either nobody had heard them, or perhaps the other guests had been simply too drunk to care, because she and Jenny received no complaints.
She opened her eyes and saw Jenny, always the earliest to rise, already pouring boiling water from the kettle into two mugs. Adding two sugars to each, Jenny stirred both coffees and picked them up, made her way back over to the bed and smiled at
Stephanie.
"Morning, sweetie. I was just going to wake you. Normally I'd leave you be, but given we didn't eat…food…last night, I thought you might want to get up for breakfast. I sure as hell did. I'm starving!"
Taking the mug from Jenny with a smile of thanks, she replied, "No, I agree. I'm ravenous." Glancing at the clock, she continued, "Okay, we have a little while yet, so I'll just drink this and then we can shower and go down. Stairs, I mean!" She added the last part as she saw Jenny's eyebrows rise. "Dirty girl," Stephanie scolded. "Haven't you had enough?"
"Of you? Never." Jenny dropped a kiss onto Stephanie’s mussed hair, then sauntered over to the window, pulling the curtains open to gaze out across W ilderhope Manor's grounds. Her girlfriend stood there, sipping her scalding coffee and wincing periodically. Stephanie shook her head incredulously. Unlike Jenny, she never could drink hot beverages so soon after they'd been made.
In fact, she decided, since the coffee had been so recently made, she could probably head into the bathroom and have a shower. By the time she’d finished, it would be just about the right temperature. Shuffling out of bed carefully, so as not to spill the drink, Stephanie padded across the room and put the mug down on the side, then went to wash up.
Despite the age of the house, the bathrooms were state-of-the-art. Most of these places clearly realised that although people loved the olde-worlde buildings, rooms and beds, they were also sticklers for a decent shower in the morning. A pathetic dribble of water would just not do, and for that, she was extremely grateful.
Stephanie turned on the spray to almost full power and waited for the hot water to come through. A minor adjustment of the temperature and she stepped into the cubicle, pulling the door shut behind her. Immediately, the water pummelling her aching muscles livened her, and putting her face under the spray for a couple of seconds ensured she was well and truly alert. Wasting no time, she grabbed the complimentary shampoo, washed and rinsed her hair, then followed suit with the shower gel on her body. She was in and out in no time at all.
Wrapping herself in a huge fluffy towel, she then manoeuvred her long hair into another one, twisting and piling it on top of her head like a turban. She left the bathroom to find Jenny just draining the last of her coffee and ready to trade places with her.
"Good timing, honey." Stephanie said, "Enjoy. The water pressure is immense. I could have stayed in there all day."
"I won't be too long. I'm definitely ready for my breakfast. I'll brush my teeth when we come back up."
"Mmm-hmm."
Fifteen minutes or so later, both of them were dressed and heading downstairs for breakfast. They walked into the dining room, the beautiful old-fashioned long table already set. A couple of people were there, and she and Jenny nodded politely, wishing them a good morning. There didn't appear to be a seating plan, so they sat next to one another. She looked down at the place setting, then glanced across at Jenny who'd clearly spotted the very same thing. After their rather energetic evening and resulting dead-to-the-world night's sleep, they'd both completely forgotten what day it was.
"These are so cute!" Jenny said,
