lot more than we really did. But not one single person will judge. That’s the beauty of a club like this. There may be members here for different reasons, but in the end, they all want the same thing.”
    Her brow furrows. “What’s that?”
I shrug. “To be loved. Even if they don’t realize it, that’s really what they’re looking for, love and acceptance. That’s all. They’re either looking for it, or looking to find a way to open up so they can accept it.”
I can see the gears turning in her head, and she finally says, “I guess we’d better get out of here.” She hesitates for a minute and her face turns red, but I can see she’s trying to gather up her courage. “Would you want to, I mean, some other time, would you like to . . . oh, never mind.”
My heart skips a couple of beats. “Play with you again?” She nods. “Oh, god, I hope you want to, because I most definitely do.” That gets a shy smile out of her. “I’d be really hurt if you didn’t.”
    “Master Steffen? Hurt?” she laughs.
I hope she can’t see the sadness in my face when I say, “Yeah. Master Steffen gets hurt too, just like everybody else.”
That kills the laughter and she gives me a sad smile back. “I’ll remember that.”
“Thanks.” I stand and reach for her hand. “Come on, let’s go. You just let me know when, where, and what, and I’m at your disposal.” When she reaches for me and I feel her warmth and softness against my palm, for the first time in a long time, everything I am and know feels right.

Chapter Three

I want to see her. Hell, I think about her pretty much constantly. And I’m fairly certain that she’s not thinking about me. At least that’s what I thought, until Thursday night when she traipses into the club with Trish and Clint. When they step through the doorway, she gives me a tiny little wave and she and Trish disappear into the locker room. I’m standing in the men’s locker room doorway and Clint heads straight for me. All he says as he passes me in the doorway is, “Come with me.”
Once we’re in the locker room, he starts stripping off and dressing out. And he turns to me, his eyes twinkling. “What the hell did you do to that woman?”
“What? Me?” I give him my “dunno” face. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“Oh, shut the fuck up, Cothran. You know exactly what I’m talking about.”
“I have no idea!” Now I’m really curious as to what’s going on.
“Did you fuck her? Because I’m pretty sure you fucked her, and pretty well, I might add.”
“No! I did not fuck her. Did she say I did? Because I didn’t.” Now I’m thinking I’m about to be chastised, and I didn’t do a damn thing wrong. What the hell? We’re grownups.
“No, she didn’t say you did.” Clint zips up his leathers and sits down on the bench, then motions for me to do the same. “I’m asking because I think she’s fallen for you.”
    “Wha???? Me?”
“Yes, you, you middle-aged lothario you. Fallen. Hook, line, and sinker. Head over heels. In over her head. Yep. In deep. And I hope you have some kind of feelings for her, or I’m going to have a lot of explaining to do. At least some interest.” He stops. “Well?”
I’m not really sure what to say – he’s taken me completely by surprise. “Uh, um, I, uh . . .”
“Cothran, don’t screw me over here, I mean it.”
“No, no, no! I’m not! I’m just shocked.”
“You look it. Why? Did you do your best ‘cool and aloof’ thing?”
“No! No, I’m really very interested in her too. Very.” He gives me the evil eye. “I mean, I haven’t thought about much else since the last time she was here. I mean anybody else. Fuck, you know what I mean.” Now I’m blushing.
“Why, Cothran, you old dog! You’ve got it bad, don’t you?”
“I don’t know if I’d say that, but I do like her – a lot. She asked me if I’d be interested in playing with her again and I nearly had
