when she ’ d awaken to the faint
scent of Blake ’ s cologne, only to vanish into
thin air just as quickly. Reality would hit. He was gone and
nothing would bring him back ever again. She would never feel his
gentle touch when he cupped her face, or his fingers entwined with
hers. She ’ d never feel the warmth of his
body as he wrapped his hands around her, or the sweet taste of his
kiss that left her breathless and wanting more. She would never
open her eyes as the morning sun arose and see his face as he
looked at her with such love.
No
matter how many times she’d come here, nothing took the pain
away.
Sarah approached the plot where Blake ’ s grave
stood. Someone had come by and left a bouquet of white roses on it.
Three candles slowly burned as the flames swayed with the passing
of a gentle breeze.
She bent
down and placed her own bouquet of red roses in between the
candles. Her heart ached and it tore her apart that he was gone.
He’d been taken away tragically on a day that was supposed to be
the happiest day of their lives.
A tear
rolled down her cheek as she glanced at the engagement ring she
still wore on her finger. She hadn’t found the strength yet to take
it off.
Sarah
wiped the tear away with the sleeve of her jacket.
"Baby, look how fast your daughter ’ s grown,"
she said as she crouched down in front of Blake ’ s
headstone.
Baby
Samantha barely stirred from her peaceful nap as Sarah moved the
blanket up to keep her warm.
Sarah placed a soft kiss on their daughter ’ s
forehead. Every time she looked at her, she was reminded of Blake.
She had her father ’ s eyes. So innocent, so green and
just as beautiful. Just like her daddy.
"Blake,
I miss you so much. We both miss you. I don't know how I will be
able to do this without you."
A subtle
breeze rustled the trees and they rocked gently.
Tears continued to fall as the pain and heartache overwhelmed
her. She let them fall. Let all the pain flow through them. All the
emotions she ’ d held inside were freed with
each drop that cascaded down her cheeks.
She
cuddled Samantha in her arms. Today would have been their one year
anniversary. They would have been married, together, a family. But
life had chosen a different path for her. Blake had been taken
away, and now she had to gather the strength to get through this
for their daughter and for herself.
Wiping
away her tears, Sarah reached toward his gravestone. Her fingers
slowly traced the engraving of his name. Beloved brother, son, and
husband.
"And
father," she whispered. She brought her fingers up to her mouth,
kissed them and placed them over his name.
"I will
always love you, Blake," she said as she stood up.
With one
final look, she turned and began to walk away.

"When you closed your heart off to it all"
"Stood and watched us burn to the ground"
"As the hate grew and consumed you"
CHORUS
"You let your feelings of lost and lonely tear you

created"
"Your choices have left you scattered and faded with
blindness to your beliefs."
"Left you scattered and faded with denial."
