love.”
Brooklyn’s
smile was beautiful, blinding in its joy and love for him and Mason had a
visible catch in his breath. Her answer whispered on the air to him and was caught
by Tiaan and Allison, who stood the closest.
“I already
did, baby! The first time you made me yours.”
Mason looked
around and grinned at Tiaan and Allison, amidst the thunderous applause from
their guests. Tiaan took over from there and physically dragged Brooklyn away
from Mason, propelling her toward Allison.
“So, go and do
the girly thing with your cousin. Fix her makeup, do the waxy-thing, put some
flowers in her hair , while we get all of the guests settled for the ceremony.”
Allison
laughingly slipped her arm through Brooklyn’s and admired her ring, with love
and longing swirling in her heart. Her own loneliness suddenly becoming too
much to bear. Now, more than anything, she realized it was time to put her
past behind her and find her own true love.
Brooklyn’s
father waited for them on the patio when they stepped out of the house twenty
minutes later. She looked beautiful and could not have been more of a bride
with her loose flowing chiffon dress and the small flowers Allison had woven into
her hair.
Tiaan and
Allison flanked the couple during the poignant ceremony, which was short, but magical.
For the
opening dance, Tiaan drew Allison into his arms and held her close. He did not
speak, but simply nuzzled his face in her hair, which he seemed to have a
fascination with.
Allison had
trouble keeping her fingers from trembling in his hand. A zealous reaction to
the heat that flooded every cell in her body the moment he urged her up against
him. She swallowed and bit her lip.
Damn…I
want this man. So. Bloody. Much!
She had not
been with a man in over a year. On her twenty-second birthday, she became
engaged to Greg Scott, whom she met in college. They were together for two
years before they got engaged and another three before they set their wedding
date. Three days before their wedding she went to collect her wedding dress, and
upon arriving home Greg informed her he was not ready for marriage. They had
been engaged for five years. Five years!
The day after
they broke it off she saw him, at the mall, in a lip lock with one of her
friends, Simla. She was completely devastated. Allison had lost her faith in
love. She’d had the odd one-night stand every now and then, but she had no
interest in finding love. Not until she met Mason a few weeks ago. Seeing the
love and devotion that he and Brooklyn had for one another reminded her of what
was missing in her life.
Now, she was
in the arms of the one man who tempted her more than any she had ever met. The
one man she knew would never be able to give her the same devotion his brother gave
her cousin. He had always been reported as the wilder one of the two. Tiaan
Sheppard gave womanizing a whole new meaning.
Allison escaped
his arms the moment the song ended and disappeared between the people that
hugged the edge of the small dance floor. Tiaan cursed and rushed after her,
but she had vanished.
For the
following thirty minutes she managed to avoid him. If he had not been in such pain
with need, her efforts to avoid him would have been comical. Now, it only
angered him and drove his arousal higher. He watched her flirt with Lucas,
feeling the anger slowly curl inside him.
When he saw
her remove her shoes to walk down the path toward the beach, he followed her
with brisk, long steps. Kicking off his shoes and dropping them next to hers, he
jogged to catch up with her. He was semi-casually dressed in a pair of black
pants and a white Cambridge shirt. He rolled the sleeves up while he followed
Allison around the bay, speeding up when she disappeared from sight.
He found her
sitting in a secluded little alcove, surrounded by shrubs and swaying trees. When
he stepped into the clearing, she startled and stared at
