never found the right partner. A few too many years had passed
and it became clear she wasn’t going to make it as a pro-athlete.
She still played volleyball daily and played hard. Even on my most
stressful day, watching her play with her friends made me hard
every time. I watched as Jen walked away from our table and turned
on a little extra wiggle.
“Sean, come back to earth,” said Shannon
teasing me but bringing my focus back to her.
“Sorry, lost for a second there. I’ve ordered
a few things,” I said. “I ordered Sashimi, tuna and some special
sake. When Jen comes back we can order whatever you like.”
“I feel pretty certain that I like most of
the same things that you like,” she said, a salacious grin
plastered on her lips.
I was half hard already between Jen and
Shannon hugging and kissing me, though I figured I had a better
shot with Jen and had wanted that shot for a long time.
“What else may I get you?” asked Jen,
appearing out of nowhere.
“A second chance,” said Shannon, as she
looked me directly in the eyes.
It broke the tension and even Jen laughed. “I
like this one, Sean,” she said.
“Nothing right now,” I said.
“More sake,” said Shannon.
“Watch out for this one, Sean. She’s tougher
than that pale white skin would lead you to believe,” said Jen.
Then she turned and walked away. “A second chance,” she muttered
walking off.
“Can we talk guarantees and how you plan to
deliver what you haven’t been able to do so far?” I asked.
“Hold on. Can we talk cars for five minutes
just to get warmed up? If I only wanted to bang out an agreement
with you I could have done that on the phone,” she said.
“Cars, why cars?” I asked.
She rolled her eyes, indicating that I didn’t
get it. “The topic doesn’t matter. We’re here, let’s relax and chat
for a bit, work our way into it,” she said. “Besides, I’m buying,
remember?”
By the time we cracked the second bottle of
sake Shannon had had me laughing again and often. She was good.
She’d started as a receptionist at her company so she knew how many
people complained. And she also knew that they had fucked up with
our account. She’d admitted that her employer had some serious
quality control issues but kept reassuring me that she was there to
fix those problems.
She did her best to keep the conversation
away from business. The conversation flowed from the Lakers to the
ocean, vacations, to what we wore around the house. She grinned at
me when she announced, “I usually walk around the house in a thong,
or nothing.”
“That’s an interesting statement but, you’re
married,” I said.
She inhaled. This was all a part of some game
she was playing. “I am married, how did you know?”
“You wear a wedding ring, though not
tonight,” I said. The skin around her ring finger was lighter where
a ring usually sat.
“It was the finger, right?” she asked. I
nodded yes, noting she was clearly busted. I refilled both of our
sake cups and leaned back in the seat. I raised a silent toast and
downed it as did she.
“My business isn’t dependent on your marital
status, Shannon. I don’t think there’s anything you can do to keep
my business. I have to answer to people.”
“I thought you were the CEO?” she asked.
“Also majority stockholder but, my people
hate your people,” I said. It is a problem I have to solve.”
“You’re one of those guys that wouldn’t even
be happy if I blew you right here, aren’t you?” She said as Jen
arrived with the special tuna.
Jen didn’t miss a beat. “I’d be happy if you
blew him right here,” said Jen. “Sure would take the pressure off
of me. He can be a bigger pain in the ass than a torn
fingernail.”
We all laughed and once again Jen walked
off.
“A blow job won’t solve my technical
problems,” I said.
“What problem would a blow job solve?’ she
asked with a smirk on her lips. Again I didn’t reply.
Shannon poured more
