almost laughed when Roxy quickly turned her back to him. He didn’t wear underwear so he pulled on the spare pair of pants. They were too short and a little big in the waist, but it was wearable.
“Lexi is a good woman. I don’t want to see her hurt.”
“Neither do I. The man that her ex is involved with is very dangerous. It would be better if she stayed away from here until her ex is brought back in for judgement.”
“She’s gone. I don’t know where.” Roxy turned to leave but stopped when Vic touched her arm gently.
“Would you tell me if she returned?”
“No.” Then she left.
Vic walked out into the main space of the club over to where Blade and Isaac were sitting. Both men looked him up and down and their eyes lingered on the khaki pants that he was wearing that were clearly too short.
“Don’t ask,” he warned them as he motioned for them to follow him out of the club.
“Wouldn’t dream of it, boss,” Blade said with a smirk.
Chapter 5
Lexi threw half her dresses on the bed. She stepped back and looked at her medium-sized suitcase and the clothes piled on her bed that were clearly not going to fit. “Fuck!” She shoved most of the dresses to the side, except for a couple that she threw into the suitcase, then concentrated on matching her pants and shirts. A few lingerie sets, her two best bikinis and beach towels. She picked a couple sets of shoes and she was ready. The rest she could buy if she needed to. Besides, she was hoping to be gone for only about a week, at most.
As she closed her suitcase, she realized she had forgotten to grab her hairbrush. She ran into the bathroom to retrieve it. On her way out, she bumped into the wall. Only it wasn’t a wall, but a tall barrier made of muscle. Her arms were grabbed in a painful grip.
“Going somewhere, Mrs. Stratford?”
Lexi struggled as she looked up into the eyes of a stranger. She opened her mouth to scream but a fist hit her in the chin. Darkness followed.

“What do you have for me?” Vic asked Isaac.
“My sensors indicated that one person entered Miss Tanner’s home about ten minutes ago. Then multiple individuals showed up just a few minutes ago. None have left the premises. It could be Stratford with a friend.”
“Blade, how much longer before we get to Miss Tanner’s apartment?” Vic had a bad feeling about those other individuals.
“Pulling onto her road now. Should I park a few houses down?”
“Yes, but be careful not to alert anyone to our presence. It could be Stratford and we don’t want to have him getting away again. Is there another way in besides the front door?” Vic checked his weapon and tucked it into his arm holster. He glanced at the five-story apartment complex. It was in a nice, quiet neighborhood.
“Miss Tanner’s apartment is on the third level. There’s a window on the fourth level directly above her bedroom window. The only other exit is through the basement of the apartment building,” Isaac told him as they scanned the area.
“Isaac, you monitor from the van and let us know of any movement you detect. Blade, you stay out by the back door and I will go in through the open window on the fourth floor and take the stairs down to the third. I will set up triggers with electric shocks at the door of the apartment first, then I will come back and enter through the bedroom window. Anyone coming out of the apartment will be stunned. Don’t come in unless I give the call. Let’s get going.”
Vic and Blade jumped out of the van and separated once they got close to the apartment. Vic could see shadows passing by Lexi’s apartment windows. He ducked down as he made his way around the side of the building. One of the trees surrounding the building reached nearly as high as the roof of the building. He climbed it easily to the fourth floor and got a leg on the sill of the open window. He entered the apartment quietly. Luckily, it seemed no one was home. He exited
