though.”
Whiskey wasn’t one to judge, and he felt bad for Elena. He imagined she’d been judged quite a bit already. He ran his fingers over her thigh again. “Darlin’, I know I’ll enjoy this wedding more with you by my side. Thank you. Elena, you seem like a strong woman to me, and I do know about staying with someone because you feel you gotta. That was Margo. I knocked her up and married her because I knew she was having my kid. I didn’t even love her, or really like her. I hope I don’t sound like an asshole to you.”
Elena looked long and hard at him, considering her words carefully. “I think it is admirable that you felt so strongly about your child. That right there tells me a lot about the type of man you are.” She grinned. “I’m sure you’re really not a nice man at all, are you? No, don’t answer that, I don’t want to know your secrets. Anyway, I need to get going.” She stood up and put her jacket on. She reached into her purse and grabbed a small notepad. She wrote her number and directions to her house on it and handed it to Whiskey.
Darko strode up to the couple. “Elena, are you okay to drive?”
“I’m fine, Darko. I had a wonderful night and Whiskey is coming to see my farm tomorrow. We even have a lunch date planned,” Elena added, sounding excited and happy.
Whiskey stood up and bent his head to touch her lips lightly. “Until tomorrow, darlin’. Would you like me to escort you home?”
Elena shook her head and gave a sexy laugh. “No, thanks. I’m sure Darko has Swiper following me home. I saw him head outside, so I’m in good hands. I’ll see you around noonish?”
“Yes, noon. Drive safely, sweet thing.”
He watched as Elena left the bar, then looked at Darko. “I didn’t know Jersey girls were so foxy.”
With that, he went back to drinking and paid little attention to what Darko was saying to him. This chick Elena was very interesting and she made him feel better about himself. He wanted to know everything he could about her, so he sent Zero to ask about her discreetly. He stopped drinking and sipped his water, tapping his foot against the bar. He wanted to leave and go back to the motel. Tomorrow couldn’t come fast enough for him.
He was lost in thought when Zero tapped his shoulder. “The chick, Elena, everyone loves her. Not a bad word said about her, except that Thrash, y’know him, from Bound for Hell, he seems to want her. He’s big over there, national SAA.”
“Fuck Thrash. He isn’t getting her. Let’s get outta here, I got a date with her for lunch. Get the others and let’s move out. I’m sure Darko will be glad to see us leave.” He looked directly at Darko and smiled widely at him. “I don’t give a fuck who I piss off. Never cared much for Thrash either. There’s bars by the motel. Party there. I need to call Rebel.”
He stood and walked over to Darko as Zero made the call that Satan’s Attitude was leaving. Grumbling bikers paid their tabs and tipped the dancers and barmaids more money.
“I heard about Thrash,” said Whiskey. “He ain’t got her yet and I like the chick, Darko. Be wise of you to stay out of it. If I find we don’t get along, he can have her.”
“I hope it’s not gonna fuck up relations, Whiskey. Elena deserves the best. She’s had a rough time. She ain’t no club slut. Hunter was a president in his own club before they patched into Bound for Hell.”
Whiskey understood where Darko was going. “I ain’t asking her to fuck me. She and I have a lot in common. You’ve got my word that I will treat her decent.” He held out his hand and Darko shook it.
“I’m trusting your word, bro. You’ll see what I mean about Elena. She is one of a kind.”
“Which is what I’m looking for: a woman of significance. Thanks for having us. I’ll call Mad Jack in the morning. Gonna be a great wedding and I like that our clubs will be linked by marriage. Zero thinks real highly of your boy.” Whiskey
