coffee is a sure way to end that. Come on, one more glass of wine with me!”
“No ways, I’ve had enough. I love coffee after a meal anyway. Are you driving home?”
“I am. And don’t you worry about it – I’ll be right as rain. Like I said, I can handle my alcohol better than most. Waiter! Waiter – over here.” Bryan called the waiter over. “Please could I have a glass of wine, and don’t be shy. And one for the lady please.”
“No, no. Just a cup of coffee for me.” She wasn’t too impressed that he had ignored the fact that she had already said she didn’t want any more wine.
Bryan looked at her and shrugged, “Suit yourself.” And just like that she wanted to go home. Thankfully the coffee came quickly and Melissa drank it fast. She then made her excuses and left before Bryan could try convince her otherwise. The moment she got home she messaged Ryan.

    So… Bryan was awesome.

Yeah?! That’s brilliant news. I knew you would like him. Came the reply.

That was until he drank three bottles of wine and then scoffed at me wanting a cup of coffee at the end. Oh and he was driving home! You set me up with a drunk!

The phone rang. “Melissa, I’m so sorry. I haven’t seen Bryan out socially in years. He always liked drinking but I honestly didn’t know it was that bad. I’m so sorry! Someone told me he had a drinking problem once but I laughed it off because I’ve never really seen it myself. Was he bad? Did he do anything stupid? Argh, I feel stupid now.”
Melissa sighed, “No, he wasn’t all that bad and he didn’t do anything stupid. Well, I left before anything stupid happened. I’m sure he was only one drink away from that to be honest. But if he does that on date number one than I can’t bear to think what he’s like when he’s not trying so hard to please me. He was really nice, but I had an alcoholic uncle and I just can’t be around someone like that. Not romantically at least. Pity, because I was actually starting to like him at the start.”
“I’m so sorry my love. Can I try again? I’m sure I will have much better luck the next time round. I have a few more candidates in mind.”
“Ah, not just yet Ryan. I’m too full and too tired to think about anything right now. But don’t worry – this was still far better than any other blind date I’ve been on. Improvements are happening.”

After that Melissa quickly phoned Carol and filled her in on the evening. Melissa could swear that Carol seemed almost pleased that Ryan hadn’t beaten her in the blind date game.

    ***

The next day Melissa woke up and remembered her lack of clothes situation and decided to go shopping. At the same time she figured she’d try to meet a man at a coffee shop. I’ll kill two birds with one stone! And she pattered herself on her back for such a great idea.

At the shops Melissa tried on outfit after outfit until she walked away with a pretty dress, a sexy dress, some good but comfortable clothes for everyday wear, and some active wear. She also got herself some new underwear although she wasn’t sure if any man was even though to see her wearing it. She’d always been the sensible underwear type of girl but today she was all lace and grace! She snuck off to the restroom and changed into her new panties and bra and then giggled as she walked out. To the outside world she looked no different, but having a change of underwear had suddenly made her feel as if she could take on the world.

                  “Melissa!”

Melissa turned and saw Matthew standing in front of her. He looked even better looking from the first time she had seen him and she cursed herself for being so attracted to him.
                  “Matthew! Fancy seeing you
