she cringed at how that sounded—so her reply came out much more flippant then she intended it to.
“Well, if I actually get to meet the great Jamison before he drags me down the altar, I might. Otherwise he deserves me not telling him. Why should I anyway? He’s the one that insisted on this farce of a marriage, and he’s the one who couldn’t even be bothered to get to know me, and yes, I know what Papa said. He’s busy, still working abroad, but so the fuck what? I’m clearly not that important to him other than the favored virgin bride—which is so bloody archaic it’s not even real. I refuse to let him have that part of me. I choose who to give it to, dammit, and right now that’s you, so for the love of God, get on with it and do what I paid you to do.”
She knew she’d overstepped the mark the minute she said it, and sure enough, Jamie looked all but ready to strangle her in this moment. She wasn’t entirely sure he wouldn’t because his hands stopped the soothing caress of her scalp, as he seemingly had rid her hair of all its clips, and spread it out behind her. One hand fingered the dark strands and the other slid to her throat and tightened. Not enough to cut off her supply, but enough to make her wonder whether he was going to do so. And that thought really shouldn’t cause another trickle of her juices to slip past the elastic of her lacy thong.
She was angry with him, wasn’t she, yet her body wasn’t listening. The tops of her thighs were now wet with her arousal, and the clothes she was still wearing felt far too restrictive.
    “I’m sorry, Sir.”
Something hard and dangerous flashed over his features at her whispered apology. One she had no real idea why she was making it, just felt compelled to do so. The hand across her throat flexed tight and then turned into a soothing caress.
“No, forgive me for bringing this up now. I just had to be sure. I don’t want you to regret this in the morning.”
Again she lost herself in his intense gaze. No one had looked at her like that ever. Certainly no man, as though she was the most precious thing in the world, and her opinion mattered above all else. Papa tended to look at her with mild affection at best, and lately she seemed to have been nothing more of an annoyance to him, too damn unreasonable in her demands when he was only trying to keep her safe, or so he said. Much to her horror her eyes filled with tears, and Jamie made an indistinguishable sound at the back of his throat when he appeared to notice.
“There, now, my love, it will be okay. We don’t have to do this, we can just…” His voice trailed off when she frantically shook her head, and blinked away the moisture filling her eyes.
“No, please. I need to do this for me, please. I don’t want to think anymore, I just want to … oh…”
It was her turn to stop speaking, because Jamie bent down to kiss the tears off her eyelashes while murmuring words she didn’t quite catch. Butterfly kisses left a path of heated awareness across her skin, as he trailed them along her cheekbones and down her neck until he skimmed the top of her breasts, while his hands undid the size zipper of her dress. Cool air hit her overheated flesh, as he slid the dress up over her hips and breasts.
“Ah, such beautiful curves you have, and a strapless bra. How very convenient for my purposes.” The grin he gave her was the most sinful one yet. In this moment she felt beautiful, as he ran his heated gaze all over her body. His large hands followed the path his eyes had just taken and the feel of his surprisingly work roughened hands on her bare skin was far too arousing.
Her breasts grew heavy, and her nipples chafed against their lacy confines.
    “Please … Sir…”
“Shhh, I know, bellissima. Trust me. I’ll make this good for you, but first. How fond are you of this dress?”
She blinked in surprise at his words.
“It’s just a dress, why?” she asked.
    Sir, she seemed utterly
