of the prestigious career his mother had maintained as a sculptor and
painter.
    “Up
until now it has been just a hobby, but I was offered the chance to do a showing by a
family friend who runs a gallery in New York. I don’t know how well you follow
Fusion, but we have just completed a US
and European tour so with the nine months free it seems a perfect time as any
to dip my toe into the art world.
    “What
style do you work with?”
    “Graphite
Pencil mostly, I like the variety of soft or hard strengths of pigments you can
use to show the true light and shadow.  I take black & white photographs
and capture the subject in a larger scale; most of my canvases are pretty vast
in size – probably 60 inches across.”
    Indi
smiled. “You sound just like one of my friends; she is trained as a commercial
illustrator.  She talks a lot about all the different techniques she uses in
her everyday work.” There was a hint of teasing in her voice.
    “Ha,
I just happen to take my drawing extremely seriously.”  Grey smiled warmly as
he stole a glance her way before turning his eye line on the road.  “I am sure
you take your photography just serious?”
    “I
do, but it isn’t my main academic focus.”
    “Oh,
what is then?”
    “Well
after completing most of my grades in cello and music theory, I am just about
to start my second year into a music degree at Goldsmiths then once that is
complete I hope to do a Masters at Royal College.”
    “It
sounds as if you will be more qualified as a musician than me then.”
    “You
never studied music academically before turning professional?”
    He
pulled the car into her driveway.
    “Never
in a degree format. My father does not approve of my music or artistic
tendencies, so I had to adhere to his rules of taking more constructive business
qualifications until I turned 21 and my trust fund left his control.”  He
answered, switching off the engine.
    Furrowing
her brow at the bitterness, he spoke about his father. “Ahh, power and control,
a trait my father seems to have in common with yours then.” Their eyes locked
briefly as a common understanding of the pain and disappointment in their past
passed between them,
    Breaking
the moment, he handed her the key fob.  “Now, are you going to allow me the
pleasure of carrying you in my arms one last time this evening so I can sleep
restfully tonight knowing your ankle has received my best attention.”
    Blushing,
“If you insist but truly it is fine now.”
“I do insist.” Grey responded as he exited the vehicle, shutting the
driver’s door behind him.
Sighing with defeat, Indi released her seatbelt and
waited for him to make it around to her side of the car.
    Opening
her door, Grey slid her into his arms effortlessly and carried her down the
small footpath to her front door.  Placing her safely on her two feet once
again, he reached up to trace the outline of her jaw and cheek. “Well
Goodnight, I’ll set up lunch for twelve-thirty on the beach.”
     “Yes,
that’s fine.  Goodnight.”
    He
smiled briefly, before turning to leave her driveway and make his way back to
his own through a side gate just beyond where they had been standing.
    Indi
stood just looking at his retreating figure for a few seconds before she could
bring herself to look away, shaking her head in disbelief that she had just
spent the evening with her idol as she let herself into the villa.

Rules - Grey
Arriving back at his own villa,
Grey checked in with Adam and Hayden who were sitting in the lounge watching an
Italian film. Getting up from sofa, Adam came over to greet Grey.  “Grey, you
were gone much longer than we anticipated. Was everything okay?”
    “Yes, Stephens. I apologise if
I gave you any cause for concern.”
“I must insist that, in the
future, you keep your phone on at all times when you are not with us.”
    Busted! Giving them a remorseful
expression, he apologised, “Very well, gentleman. It won’t happen again.”
