arms. Donovan’s hand settled just at
the curve of her ass, his pinky teasing her crack. She felt his cock starting
to swell between them, and from the intensity in his eyes he was likely to
agree if she suggested they leave now, before they ate.

“Are you always ready for sex?”
she teased.

    “Always.” He covered her mouth,
and Kai gave into him. He caught hold of her tongue, sucked it while the rumble
of a moan vibrated from his mouth to hers. They swayed together side to side,
the music helping to stir Kai’s arousal. Kai broke the kiss and settled her
head on his shoulder. Donovan’s hand slid lower.

She pulled it back up, casting an
accusing glare at him. “We can’t make love on the dance floor, Donovan. The
patrons would be shocked.”

    “Interesting choice of words. It
would make a nice show.”

    “What do you mean ‘interesting
choice of words’?”

    He shrugged. “Nothing.”

    When he wouldn’t answer, she
glanced over his shoulder at her hand tucked around his neck. Her eyes bugged
at the sight of her fingernails. She had always kept them well-manicured,
preferring clear polish to colors. And they were normally no longer than a half
inch more than the tip of her finger.

Yet right now, the fingernails on
her left hand were at least an inch and a half, and they had a reddish hue to
them. In a futile attempt to force them to go back to normal, she shook her
hand behind Donovan’s head.

He looked down at her. “Are you
okay?”

    She chuckled. “Sure, why wouldn’t
I be?”

    “Just wondering. You seem
agitated. We can forego dinner and go back to my place.”

    She had every intension of
joining him at his place. An extra pair of panties and a travel toothbrush was
already stuffed into her purse. She hadn’t wanted to be too obvious packing an
overnight bag in her car. That would come later.

The song they were dancing to
ended. “No, I wasn’t joking when I said I was hungry. Remember, I’m on a diet.
Need to lose thirty pounds or so. I don’t skip meals.”

He caught hold of her chin. “And
I wasn’t joking when I ordered that steak for you. You are incredibly beautiful
just as you are. I love a woman with meat on her bones.”

Kai winked and grinned. “Hey, I
didn’t say I thought I was ugly. I do like my shape.” She wiggled her hips
against him, making him growl. “I just said I’m bigger than I want to be. You
should know I don’t like a man to try to control me.”

He didn’t argue as he led her
back to the table, but she had the feeling he let her words float right by him.
He would try to tame her, and she would resist.

Chapter Seven

    Donovan watched Kai’s hips sashay
as she entered his apartment. He had noticed her alarm earlier when they were
dancing, but wasn’t worried about it. She’d know the truth soon enough. But for
now, this was about him and her entangled together atop the silk sheets on his
bed.

Without bothering to turn on any
lights, especially since he had not a stick of furniture in the living room, he
aimed her toward the bedroom, perfectly able to see in the dark. He noticed she
hadn’t hesitated either. When she opened her mouth to ask him something, he
kissed her neck. “ Shh , unless you’re about to shout
over a coming orgasm, which I doubt since I haven’t gotten my hands on you yet,
let’s end the conversation.

“Hmm. I agree. Where have you
been all my adult life?”

“I’m here now.” Next to his bed,
he turned her to face him. “Use me as you will.”

Kai didn’t have to be asked
twice. She turned the tables in a heartbeat, exchanging positions with him and
shoving him down on the bed. When she climbed atop him, one knee on either
side, he almost erupted. The dim lighting in the room didn’t stop him from
seeing every delicious curve and the bounce of her voluptuous breasts when she
worked her dress up over her hips until she could discard it.
