started on her business again with a fresh mindset. This time, she was going to focus on having fun. She realized that making love with Bruce was a great way to help her be in the right mindset for cooking, as strange and unrelated as it seemed.
She was supposed to meet Bruce later that day, probably in the evening after work. He had a lot to do with his teams of lawyers and accountants. It was fine with her since she also needed time for herself to sharpen her skills. She immediately felt the difference as soon as she prepared the ingredients for her first dish. She felt relaxed and confident again. She didn’t care about other people’s opinion or their judgment. It wasn’t the right time to worry about that. For now she just needed to do the best she could.
After a whole afternoon of peeling, chopping, cutting, baking, stirring and frying, Jennifer ended up with nearly ten different starters, meals and desserts. It was amazing to see all these dishes on the counter-top of her kitchen: she had made it. Now there was only one problem: she couldn’t eat everything by herself and she needed a jury to give her feedback. Everything looked nice but if there was one last thing she was concerned about, it was taste.
Jennifer decided to keep everything for now in plastic containers. She could always figure out later who to choose to be the jury. In the meantime, she wanted to go on the Internet to get more information about the adoption process. Now that Bruce was apparently out of trouble, she would be able to raise the subject sooner than she’d initially thought.
Before leaving Thailand, Jennifer had been thoughtful enough to get June’s full name and address by collecting what remained of his personal belongings. His wallet in particular was in very good shape and hadn’t burned completely after the explosion. She now had a way to track June’s family. Well, in theory that is.
She stayed in front of her computer and didn’t know how to get started. How could she get in touch with June’s family on the Internet? These people lived in a foreign country and they didn’t speak the same language. She hesitated but finally decided to contact Enzo again. First, she needed to thank him for giving her so much information about Kenichi, even though it wasn’t relevant anymore. But most of all, Enzo had been living in Thailand for many years and he was a very nice guy. Maybe he could help.
She sent him a private message and explained what she was looking for. If Enzo was really sincere and had no hidden agenda, he wouldn’t mind helping her to adopt a child with Bruce. It was actually a good test to see if he was just pretending to be nice or if it was genuine.
She pressed the send button and a few seconds later, she received a phone call from Bruce.
“Jen, it’s me,” Bruce said. “Well, I don’t know how fast I’ll be able to go home.”
“You must be very excited to get out of business with Kenichi. I understand.”
“No, that’s not really the point. We have a problem.”
    “Oh no... Again?”
“It’s a bit complicated. I don’t even really understand myself. But basically, my lawyers say that I cannot break my contract with him. I’m literally stuck with Kenichi. It’s more complicated than I anticipated.”
“Do you feel confident about this?”
“Not really. I’m quite worried again. It can take weeks before we find something to get me out of this deal. By this time, Wilson Corp. will be nothing but a ghost company.”
“Don’t say that, Bruce... You’ll find a way.”
    “I hope so.”
They both kept silent for a while. Bruce was nervous and concerned. Jennifer didn’t know how to make him feel better, when she suddenly had an idea.
    “Bruce, did you eat yet?”
“Hell no, I didn’t think about it.”
    “You must be starving.”
“Yes and no. I don’t know but I certainly need to eat something if I want to work the whole night.”
“Do you want me to bring you food? I’ve
