believed in self-combustion—until now. She didn’t want to stand up; there would be a gush of her arousal and she might faint.
So much for out-of-sight, out-of-mind.
Sandra’s face was not very enthusiastic. Confusing. Sean knew she didn’t mind going on vacation with them. They’d gone on plenty of trips together. Granted it had been a while, but nothing in their relationship had changed.
Or has it?
For the past few weeks, sexual tension had invaded their platonic threesome. Jokes, innuendoes, and little remarks had popped up here and there. Also, Sandra had been really concerned about their image together. Then he and Patrick came across that article in her magazine.
But the catalyst that sparked the tension stemmed from an offhanded remark Sandra made one day weeks before. All the locker rooms at the gym were occupied, but they wanted to get their workout on quick, because they were going out to see a show.
Sean had suggested they change in his office. Sandra went into the private bathroom, while he and Patrick remained in the office.
Sandra hollered through the closed door that this would be a great start to a porno movie, especially if she emerged right then with nothing on but her underwear. Then the corny sexy music would come on and all three would start getting busy.
He and Patrick had gaped at each other. Then they stared a hole in the bathroom door. The silence was deafening. In fact, she peeked out to see if they were still there.
It may have been a joke to her, but they’d wanted to implement the idea right then. The trip to The Rockies would straighten things up nicely. They would talk about that article in her magazine and the comment she made, plus share any other secret fantasies they might have.
But more importantly, they would discuss the feelings he and Patrick had for her.
Chapter Six
Patrick peeked into Sandra’s room, as she stuffed more clothes into two open bags. “Over-packing, I see.” He came in sat down on the edge of the bed next to her suitcases.
“No, I like being prepared.” She added a pair of heels to the other three.
“Uh-huh. So, how much skiing do you think you’re going to manage?”
“Depends on the snow. Will it be fresh powder? Soft? Hard? The snowfall can be so unpredictable up there. I checked the weather this past season, and they didn’t have good rainfall. But I’m hoping for at least five days out of the three weeks.”
“You think maybe you can teach me to ski?” Patrick helped her pack some sweaters. “My skis are collecting dust at home. I bought them years ago thinking I was going to try the crazy sport.”
“I didn’t realize you were still interested in skiing.”
“I’ve been watching you for years, and I always felt left out of the ski loop.”
Sandra put down a pair of pants and glanced at him. “Why didn’t you say something? I never—”
“I didn’t want to intrude. I mean, we do share almost everything. I thought maybe that was something you wanted just for you.”
“Nonsense.” She rubbed his shoulder gently. “If you want to learn to ski, I’ll be more than happy to teach you. Besides, I sorta feel strange out there without you guys.”
“You guys?”
“I’m not sure if Sean wants to learn to ski, too. I assumed…?”
“I’m sure he’ll jump at the chance.”
“I’ll ask him, then.” She smiled.
Patrick nodded and left the room. He stood in the hallway for a good minute. Maybe Sean had a point. Maybe it wouldn’t be too hard to bring up the topic of a ménage a trois. It did seem natural. She felt lonely out there on the slopes without them—despite the large numbers of skiers to mix and mingle with. Maybe she wouldn’t mind having them around more often.
He felt much better about this vacation. At first, he’d doubted Sean, but now things appeared brighter.
He went downstairs to find his buddy on the phone with Uncle Travis.
“Yeah, man. Now this cabin, is it
