atop his desk
then pulled up her underwear and slacks.
“Stand up,” he commanded.
    She followed his command without
question. Anya didn’t know what he would
do next. The tigress she was when she first
walked in was momentarily docile in front
of this man. She started to fidget with her
fingers and would not meet his eyes. He
reached out and cupped her cheek again,
caressing her with his thumb.
“Look at me.” His voice was
remarkably softer as he spoke, and her
eyes slowly rose to meet his. “Whether you
like it or not, you are mine in every way
now. You cannot deny me what’s mine. You
chose to take this option. Now, we can have
a good relationship, or we can have a bad
one. The choice is yours. But, make no
mistake in either one, I will get what’s
mine.” He placed a gentle kiss on her lips
and then walked around his desk to sit
down.
The cool calculating Calix was back.
Gone was the crazed beast. Acting like the
whole forced event never happened, he
began discussing the plans he had already
made. “I’ve made an appointment with a
wedding planner for tomorrow at two pm;
don’t be late. I want the wedding to be held
as soon as possible. The wedding planner
informed me that she would need at least
four weeks, so the date is set for next
month on the tenth.”
    Anya’s mind was muddled and
confused, not just about what just
happened but also about what he was
saying. Her forehead was scrunched, and
her eyes squinted as she looked at Calix.
“You were so sure I’d agree you already
made plans?” She watched as he gathered
the papers she had brought and ran them
through the shredder. When he was
finished, he looked back to her.
“I knew your father. That man
would sell his own mother if he could make
a decent profit. And, I’ve seen you with
your mother. You’d do anything for her, so,
yes, I knew you would agree. Sit down.” He
pointed to one of the coffee-brown leather
chairs in front of his desk. “Now, you were
right earlier when you said I have a prenup for you to sign. Here’s your copy. You
can have your attorney look it over, but I’ll
give you the Cliff’s notes and highlight key
points for you. Should we divorce, you walk
out of this marriage with exactly what you
walked into it with. You cannot take any
form of birth control until you have
provided me with at least two children,
though I do want more. In the event of
divorce, I will have complete physical
custody of any children that we have. If you
try to circumvent the divorce by simply
separating without filing for divorce, I will
still get complete physical custody of the
children. Now, for any reason—other than
adultery—should I choose to divorce you,
you will receive a handsome alimony
settlement. But, again, I will retain full
physical custody of whatever children
come from our union.”
Anya’s heart sank, and it sunk
further and further as she skimmed over
the pre-nup he had handed her while he
was talking. She shook her head, pushing
the papers back at him. “No, I can’t sign
these. I would never leave my children.”
She glanced up at him and saw a knowing
face. Of course, that was what he was
counting on. Calix knew she’d never leave
her children; therefore, she would never
leave him. Her father was wrong as usual;
she couldn’t just get pregnant and divorce
him.
Her voice was low and full of pain.
“Please, Calix, I can’t sign these.”
His face was a totally emotionless
mask; his voice steady and calm. “Then
don’t. We won’t get married, and your
father can find another way to pay off his
debt, which he’ll have to be very quick
about. Also, my seed may already be taking
root in your belly as we speak. I used no
protection, and, if you should fall pregnant,
I will get custody of my child. Where are
you in your cycle?”
    Not thinking, she answered
automatically, “I’m in the middle; my
period is due in about two weeks.”
“Good, you’re fertile now, and
