didn’t
want or need…or both. She shrugged.
“It had better be something good or I am on the first flight
back home,” she said. “Or I could just take this one,”
she added as she looked around.
“If you think I am letting you go home before we are done with
our honeymoon, then you are sadly mistaken,” he said before he
leaned towards her. “Especially not after last night,” he
added in a whisper.
Julie smiled and felt herself blush for some reason. “By the
way, if you are going to want a repeat of last night then you most
probably have to get me to a place with some spa treatments…I
need to get rid of some…tightness,” she said. Steven
smiled and nodded. Just then, Steven’s phone rang. Julie
frowned as he pulled it out of his pocket. “Babe…no
phone. No work, remember?” she said.
“It’s a message. I’ll just see who it is and then
put it away,” he said. She shrugged and nodded. “Oh, it’s
Ellis,” he said.
“Say hi…I wonder how things went with him and Meg,”
Julie said as Steven read the message.
Dude, I’m sending you something but you have to delete it
IMMEDIATELY!
Steven shrugged.
“Yeah me too,” he said as another message came in. He
reduced the volume on his phone and opened the JPEG Ellis had just
sent. “Oh wow…I guess things went really well,” he
said as he looked at what looked like a post-coital selfie of Ellis
and Meg. The two were under a white bed sheet, seemingly naked.
“What makes you say that?” Julie asked before taking a
long sip of her juice.
“Ahem…uh…Meg. She slept over,” he said as
he quickly deleted the text and picture. Julie looked at him and
smiled.
“Whoa, she went through with it? I could have sworn that she
was going to bail out,” she said.
Steven looked at her. “You knew” he asked.
“Well, she had his key card and your best friend did want to be
hooked up with my best friend…” she said. Steven smiled
and shrugged before he turned his attention back to his phone.
You work fast…or is it Meg? Congrats. Hopefully, you are
in it for a period longer than a month?
He was smiling as he sent it.
Seven months dude. I have been single for seven months waiting
for the ‘right time’ to meet her. If I didn’t know
any better, I could have sworn you had the hots for her.
Steven smiled and then laughed.
“What?” Julie asked as the pilot announced that they were
about to take off.
“Ellis thought I was into Meg at some point,” he said.
Julie shrugged and then shook her head.
“Why?” she asked.
“Because I wouldn’t introduce him to Meg,” he said
as he sent his text.
I didn’t want you to treat her like some one night stand
and dump her…she is kind of family, you know. No hard feelings
mate.
“Why wouldn’t you?” Julie asked. “Did you
have feeling for her?” she asked in an accusing tone. He
laughed and shook his head.
“No…it’s just that I didn’t think he was
serious about her. Ellis was quite the player back then,” he
started. “If he did break your best friend’s heart, I
would have been mad at him for doing it and you would have been mad
at me for introducing them and…it’s a whole long mess I
really wanted to avoid,” he said as another text came through.
I think this is it, dude. I think I found the one.
“Whoa…” Steven said as she passed the phone to
her. She smiled.
“He does know that once he goes black he ain’t never
going back, right?” she asked in a mock African American
accent. Steven smiled and looked at her.
“Oh he knows. He saw me with you,” he said with a smile
as he frantically typed on his phone.
All the best dude. I’m happy for you and yes I deleted
the first two messages so Julie and Meg won’t ever find out you
are some kind of pig. Say hi to Meg.
He looked at Julie and smiled.
“Damn, that’s that then huh? Meg might finally be in a
relationship,” she said as she rubbed her hands together.
Steven smiled. She kind of looked
